How to Pass an OVCA Car Tag Remember that each state is different. If your state allows for distinctive or specialty license plates, a tag to support ovarian cancer is a great way to fund research and create awareness. Establish an ovarian cancer car tag for your state: First: Call your department of motor vehicles office of possibly the department of revenue and ask about the application requirements for a distinctive or specialty car tag. They will probably need to mail you an application packet. Most likely you will complete an application and provide supporting documentation pertaining to your sponsor organization. Be sure to ask about deadlines for submission. Second: The sponsoring organization will need to decide how the funds will be directed. Perhaps you want the money to benefit women without healthcare or maybe you are like us and will have a local hospital with an exceptional GYN/ONC department that houses research (UAB hospital). Complete and submit your application. A proposed tag meeting your state’s specifications will probably need to be included. Third: If appropriate, mail letters of support to the committee members who will voting on your proposed car tag. Explain why the tag is so important. Email JPG of the ovarian cancer car tag. Fourth: With a lot of hard work and a little luck, your car tag is approved. Here in Alabama, we have a “commitment period” of 12 months, during which 1,000 people must commit to purchase the tag. Other states have other requirements. This is where we are so we can’t give advice past this point!
